This year I've been on the programming group for Greenbelt looking after the worship aspect of the festival programme. The overall programme looks fantastic and there are a number of really exciting developments from a a worship perspective. There are a few things that I'm looking forward to particularly, a couple of installation based worship experiences that should be great. The Garden from Brighton have taken over the winged Ox with their Possibility of the Impossible Installation, and The Podules of Jan Niedojadlo will be quite stunning.
There is also a packed programme in the New Forms Venue, with established names such as Grace, Sanctus1, Moot all leading worship and then some of the new groups such as Ambient Wonder and Blessed leading worship in there. Around the site there will be a Goth Eucharist, Beyond, Wild Goose and Contemplative fire all leading services. There is so much that I can't name then all so go and have a look at the worship line up on the Gb website.
Finally keep on your guard for Spontaneous: In unknown places and at surprising times worship will be happening around the Festival village.
A variety of groups have been asked to lead a simple act of worship in some unusual locations. So if you’re sat in the Tiny Tea Tent or in The Jesus Arms and a large red umbrella with ‘Spontaneous’ written on it is raised then be prepared to worship - it may happen…
