A few months ago I visited the Recorders exhibition by Mexican-Canadian electronic artist Rafael Lozano-Hemmer at Manchester Art Gallery. Each interactive piece explores our relationship with technology and surveillance.
The piece below is of 100 light bulbs each flashing at the pulse rate of the last 100 who interacted with the installation. You enter the room, hold two sensors that take your pulse rate and then the fist light bulb in the chain starts to flash at your pulse rate. When the next person holds the sensors their pulse rate becomes the first light bulb until gradually your light bulb/pulse rate moves through the installation before dropping off the end.
